The missions of the DOTA - Theoretical and Applied Optics Department are :
To develop and use sensors and innovative measuring techniques for experimental research and the validation of codes and physical models.
To design and produce instruments and specific on-board items of equipment for space, aeronautics, defense-security and environment.
Our areas of expertise are :
Modeling optronic scenes and thermal-optical data
Design, development and qualification of high-performance optical instruments
High Resolution Imaging
Laser systems for remote sensing and imaging applications
Onera is the coordinator of the ANR project ALARMS (innovAtive Laser imAging technologies with extended Range for Maritime Surveillance). It is a technology demonstration of 2D/3D-laser sensors and highly innovative image processing on active and passive optronic cameras in order to reach “high resolution” at a long range. The ALARMS project addresses the maintenance of observation and identification of long distances (typically 2 nautical, about 4 km) in degraded weather conditions and responds to the challenge of observation under grazing incidences on the sea with optronic sensors.
